Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress who is famous for her the roles she played in Hum Aapke Hai Koun. The actress was initially famous for the role she played in the 1980s film Tezaab, in which she co-starred alongside the veteran actor Anil Koopor. In her next film Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance at an early age. While still a teenager she tried her hand at acting, but most of her early movies did not succeed. Eventually she became one the most famous actresses in Indian film. The marriage of her mother led to a hiatus from her acting career. She returned later. Recently, she had an important part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women living in India. Dixit was nominated 15 times in the Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of the awards. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit, the fourth most prestigious civil award in India. She has also been recognized for her work in the social sector.
